Depression
Depression is a complex and often debilitating mental health condition that affects millions of people around the world. It can manifest in a variety of ways, from feelings of sadness and hopelessness to physical symptoms such as fatigue and changes in appetite. Depression can also have a significant impact on a person’s social and occupational functioning, making it difficult for them to carry out daily tasks and engage in meaningful relationships.
Partaking in therapy has proven to be a helpful treatment for many people who suffer from depression. It does not 100% work for everyone, but it is one of the best starts someone can make to start recovering from the illness. Therefore we recommend visiting a psychiatrist in Makati when someone thinks they may be suffering from depression.
Makati is a place of success in the Philippines. It is a place where people travel to find wealth, happiness and possibilities. However, for those suffering from depression, it is hard to enjoy the city and all it offers. The success can appear impossible to reach for those unfortunate enough to have depression.
It is reported by the Global Burden of Disease Study in 2015, that 3.3 million Filipinos suffer from depressive disorders and around 3 million with anxiety, with 2.5 males and 1.7 females per 100,000 committing suicide in the Philippines, according to the National Centre for Mental Health (pressreader).

What Is Depression?
Depression is a common and serious medical illness that can affect how you feel, think, and act. 280 million people are living with depression globally. More than 75% of those in low- and middle-income countries receive no treatment, due to a lack of resources and social stigma. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for 15-29-year-olds.
Mental illness, particularly depression, is a major cause of suicide. Those considering suicide often feel overwhelmed by painful emotions and see death as the only way out. Suicidal thoughts may be fleeting or more frequent. Sometimes, the person exhibiting these feelings has suicidal ideation. 60% of those who commit suicide have had a mood disorder. Young people often have a substance abuse disorder in addition to depression. Any level of suicidal thinking should be taken seriously and help should be sought. With high risk, concerned friends and family should seek professional help.

How to Treat Depression
Depression often is not something that goes away by itself. There is no saying how long it will last, for some, weeks, others, months to a whole lifetime. We aim to be the psychiatrist in Makati which makes this process as easy and comfortable as possible for you. Unfortunately, depression cannot be treated in one day. For some, it can be a long recovery, but you will struggle to find someone who says it wasn’t worth it. You may find yourself doing a combination of recovery techniques with your clinical psychologist in Manila. Including, individual and group therapy sessions, antidepressant medication, a change in diet or exercise instructions. When visiting Prescription Psychiatrist, you will never be forced into a treatment you feel uncomfortable participating in. When you come in for your psychiatrist consultation, we will determine what your needs are and what we think is the best road to recovery for you.
Common Causes of Depression
Biochemistry: Certain parts of the brain, which are responsible for controlling mood, thought process, sleep, appetite, and behaviour, may be linked to depression.
Hormone levels. Changes in female hormones estrogen and progesterone during different periods like the menstrual cycle, postpartum period, perimenopause, or menopause may all raise a person’s risk for depression.
Family history: You’re at a higher risk for developing depression if you have a family history of depression or another mood disorder.
Personality: Those with a low sense of worth, who are easily overwhelmed by stress, and are generally pessimistic are more susceptible to depression.
Environmental factors: Ongoing exposure to violence, neglect, abuse, and poverty may make someone more prone to depression.
Early childhood trauma: Some events affect the way your body reacts to fear and stressful situations.
Medical conditions: Particular medical issues may raise an individual’s likelihood of suffering negative health effects.
Substance use: A history of substance or alcohol misuse can affect your risk.
Long-term Pain: Those suffering from prolonged emotional or physical pain are highly prone to developing depression.

-Mahirap matulog o kaya nama’y palaging natutulog
